American Idol 10: San Francisco Auditions
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Features, Video,
The final audition episode of American Idol’s tenth season began with tears. Many Idol auditions end this way; well, actually that isn’t true. We have to admit, when the pretty blonde girl looked at the camera and cried, “Just because somebody farts, let ‘em finish singing, okay?” we were a little surprised.
Season 8 runner-up Adam Lambert came from San Francisco, so expectations for the city ran high.

Glee: Love and Music in the Air for Valentine’s Day
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Comedy, Music, Prime Time, FOX, Features, Video,
It’s hard to believe that a Glee episode without Jane Lynch could be anything but dismal, but somehow the show managed to pull it off. The absence of Sue Sylvester was filled with several great moments with the Dalton Academy Warblers, and the new, rather unexpected, Glee couple. It’s Valentine’s on FOX, and anything’s possible on Tuesday nights.
The show opened with Puck (Mark Salling), reminiscing and revealing his feelings for Lauren Zizes (Ashley Fink). She’s the somewhat heavyset wrestling champ whose previous appearances on the show have consisted mainly of funny one-liners (“Bug the choir room? I’m almost offended by the simplicity of the request”). Because she’s immune to Puck’s many charms, and every bit as tough as he is (heck, she’s tougher), he’s got it bad for her.
Poor Puck spent the rest of the episode trying to woo Lauren. First, she rejected his candy. Then, she didn’t like his performance of Queen’s “Fat Bottomed Girls” (we loved it). And then . . . she stood him up. Zizes really is a badass. But after she threw Santana (Naya Rivera) around the halls of William McKinley like a rag doll, she can do no wrong in Puck’s eyes. At the end of it all, they ended up at Breadsticks together. But Puck and Lauren are just about the only happy couple on the show.

X Factor to Offer Multi-Million Dollar Prize
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX,
The X Factor has found yet another way to trump American Idol. The reality show already has Simon Cowell, and now it’s got the much better deal for would-be singers. The show will reward the winner of its singing competition with a $5 million recording contract through Sony. The staggering amount will be the largest sum ever rewarded through TV.
The US version of The X Factor is scheduled to premiere in September, and Simon Cowell will definitely be on the panel when auditions begin in New York. Unlike Idol, The X Factor accepts group performers and recognizes practically no age limitations.

Glee’s Super Bowl Episode Kicks Off New Drama
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Comedy, Music, Prime Time, Specials, FOX, Gossip, Video,
Few events have been as highly-anticipated as the Glee Super Bowl episode, titled “The Sue Sylvester Shuffle.”
Jane Lynch, who plays Sue, featured heavily on the show -- and that would make any episode a success. But since Glee also gave us an epic musical number, a big guest star and an eye-popping twist, we’re glad to say the wait for the next new episode won’t be quite as long as the last one.
The show opened with the original audio of Katy Perry’s “California Gurls” set to a new Cheerios routine featuring pyrotechnics, blue wigs . . . and an angry Sue Sylvester. Unhappy with the routine, Coach Sue made some of the girls hit themselves with chicken cutlets to try and cheer herself up. Sue’s problem is not that the routine is bad -- it’s that she has to find a way to top herself, as Quinn Fabray (Dianna Agron) pointed out.

American Idol 10: Los Angeles Auditions

American Idol opened with a recap of the singers we’ve seen so far this season, hyping them as “some of the best talent” the show has seen. After a decade, they still can’t come up with a new line. The city on Thursday’s episode was Los Angeles, and Randy Jackson wore his gold shoes to celebrate.
The online auditioners were sent to Los Angeles this year as well. As we reported, the show teamed with MySpace (because that’s not old and tired at all) to become more accessible than ever. Did it make a bit of difference?
Not with the first audition. The show started off on a rough note, with Steven Tyler predicting the first singer would go to Siberia.
